A look back at the MLSS Christmas Eve party for the homeless

MLSS Christmas Eve Party New Street Station Birmingham

The Christmas season may seem like forever ago now, but to make sure the festive feelings remain fully alive and warm in your hearts, we wanted to take you back to Christmas Eve 2019, the day we held our party and meal for local Homeless at New Street Station in Birmingham alongside Network Rail.

With over 350 people in attendance, despite initial speculation of around 200+, we managed to feed, entertain and make the evenings of more people than beyond our own belief.

We were all amazed by the turn out received, which truly allowed us to make more of a difference than planned which is what it was all about!

Thanks to our collaboration with Network Rail, just like the meal we held in 2018, we were provided with the space possible to ensure every person had somewhere suitable to seat, eat and enjoy the fun filled festivities.

Talking of which, the evening consisted of a full three course, vegetarian Christmas dinner, complete with non-alcoholic drink as well as the inclusion of games and even a disco for all to enjoy.

Music was also provided from a local Black Country community choir who shared their gifts of lifting spirits by singing carols for us throughout the night.

Not only that but we were blessed with the presence of a few special guests who just couldn’t wait to join in and help us to deliver a great service to our service users.

These included the Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street as well as 80's music legend and lead singer of popular group UB40, Robin Campbell.

However, we cannot forget the appearance of a good friend of MLSS, Mr Clause himself, who spent the evening meeting people, talking to children of underprivileged families and handing out gifts.

To continue with mentions, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who, regardless of the fact it was Christmas Eve, chose to volunteer their time with us to help make it the night it was.

Also, to those via our Social Media pages or who found us through other media outlets, who followed the journey and donated to the cause, we couldn’t have done it without your support and the generosity you managed to show during the season.

All money raised in the month of December went towards feeding people throughout the UK so more of those struggling at Christmas could have a real taste of friendship and that someone, somewhere really cares.

None of this would be possible without any of you!

Finally, from everyone in the team at MLSS and on behalf of all of our attendees, we can report it was a much loved night filled with happy faces, laughter and hopefully some full stomachs.

We can’t wait to do the same, much bigger and much better towards the end of this year.

Here's to a much more successful 2020!
